Safeguarding

At Aldryngton Primary School, we strive to ensure all our children are safe in school, at home, online and in the community. Our staff are here to keep young people safe and secure and to promote their personal safety and wellbeing.

Our commitment to safeguarding encompasses ways which we ensure children and young people foster security, confidence and independence. The school has a duty of care and the right to take reasonable action to ensure the welfare and safety of its pupils. If a member of staff has cause to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill treatment, neglect or any other form of abuse, the school will follow child protection procedures and inform Children’s Service of its concern.

A clear policy on Safeguarding is available on our policy page and is reviewed by the school on an annual basis. There are designated lead staff who monitor the effectiveness of the policy and, where necessary, liaise with the local authority when significant concerns arise.

If you have a concern that a child is being harmed, is at risk of harm, or you receive a disclosure (intentionally or unintentionally) you must contact one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads as quickly as possible.

If you believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, then you should call 999 immediately.

You are also able to raise concerns directly with Wokingham Children’s Services, either by calling on 0118 908 8002 between 9am and 5pm or by emailing triage@wokingham.gov.uk.

There is also an Emergency Duty Service, which is available outside of office hours and they can be contacted at anytime (including weekends and bank holidays) for emergencies. The Emergency Duty Service can be contacted on: 01344 351 999.

If you believe a person in a position of trust is abusing a child or young person in anyway, you can contact the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). The LADO can be contacted on LADO@wokingham.gov.uk.
